عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللّهِ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «أَفْضَلُ الصِّيَامِ بَعْدَ رَمَضَانَ شَهْرُ اللّهِ الْمُحَرَّمُ، وَأَفْضَلُ الصَّلاةِ بَعْد الْفَرِيضَةِ صَلاةُ اللَّيْلِ» رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The best fasting after Ramadan is [in] Allah's month of Muharram, and the best prayer after the obligatory [prayer] is the night prayer." Reported by Muslim.

شهر اللّهِ: إضافة الشهر إلى اللّهِ تعالى إضافة تشريف وتفخيم. المحرّم: شهر المحرّم من الأشهر الحرم وهي: رجب وذو القعدة وذو الحجة ومحرم وهو رأس السنة الهجرية.
"Allah's month": attributing the month to Allah the Exalted is an attribution of honor and magnification. "Al-Muharram": the month of Muharram is one of the sacred months, which are: Rajab, Dhu al-Qa'dah, Dhu al-Hijjah, and Muharram, and it is the head [beginning] of the Hijri year.
