عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ، عَنِ النَّبِيّ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «مَنْ لَمْ يَغْزُ، أَوْ يُجَهِّزْ غَازِيًا، أَوْ يَخْلُفْ غَازِيًا فِي أَهْلِهِ بِخَيْرٍ أَصَابَهُ اللّهُ بِقَارعَةٍ قَبْلَ يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ» رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُودَ بِإِسْنَادٍ صَحِيحٍ.
Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever neither fights, nor equips a fighter, nor takes good care of a fighter's family in his absence, Allah will strike him with a calamity before the Day of Resurrection." Reported by Abu Dawud with a sahih chain.

القارعة: مصيبة أو داهية أو شدة مهلكة تلطم قلبه بهولها وفجأتها.
"a calamity" (al-qari'ah): an affliction, disaster, or destructive severity that strikes his heart with its horror and suddenness.

التحذير من تعجيل العقوبة على ترك الجهاد أو ترك إعانة المجاهدين في سبيل اللّهِ بالمال أو بمساعدتهم في رعاية أهلهم. كل أمة ترغب عن الجهاد في سبيل اللّهِ تعالى ستحل عليها قارعة تزلزل أركانها. يخلف أهله "بخير" تحديد لصفة خلافته فيهم، وتحذير من أن يخلفه فيهم بسوء أو أذى.
A warning against the hastening of punishment for abandoning jihad, or for abandoning the aiding of the fighters in the path of Allah with wealth, or by helping them in the care of their families. Every nation that turns away from jihad in the path of Allah the Exalted will have a calamity befall it that shakes its very pillars. That he tends the family "with good" is a specification of the manner of his stewardship over them, and a warning against tending them with evil or harm.
