عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «مَنْ أَعْتَقَ رَقَبَةً مُسْلِمةً أَعْتَقَ اللّهُ بِكُلِّ عُضْوٍ مِنْهُ عُضْوًا مِنْهُ مِنَ النَّارِ حَتَّى فَرْجَهُ بِفَرْجِهِ» مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever frees a Muslim slave, Allah will free one of his own limbs from the Fire for every limb of the freed slave, even his private parts for his private parts." Agreed upon (al-Bukhari and Muslim).
الشرح · explanation
من أعتق: أي حرر نفسًا مسلمة من الرق. بكل عضو منه: أي بكل عضوٍ من المعتَق في سبيل اللّهِ. عضوًا منه: أي ما يقابله من المعتِقِ.
"Whoever frees": that is, liberates a Muslim soul from bondage. "For every limb of his": that is, for every limb of the freed slave set free for the sake of Allah. "A limb of his": that is, its counterpart belonging to the one who freed him.

Encouragement to free slaves whenever there are Muslims in bondage, for in it lies the restoration of dignity to the Muslims by removing from them the humiliation of servitude. Liberating slaves from captivity brings deliverance from the Fire on the Day of Resurrection and a raising of ranks in Paradise.
