Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) bought a camel from him, and he weighed out [the price] for him and gave him extra. Agreed upon (al-Bukhari and Muslim).
"He weighed out for him and gave him extra": that is, he ordered that the price be weighed out for him in gold or silver, and that an amount be added to the weight over what had been agreed upon. It is reported that he added a qirat, which is a specific weight of gold. In this is the recommendation of adding to the weight or the price over what is due or agreed upon, provided it be a voluntary gift on his part.
