عَنْ أَوْسِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللّهِ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِنَّ مِنْ أَفْضَلِ أَيَّامِكُمْ يَوْمَ الجُمُعَةِ، فَأَكْثِرُوا عَلَيَّ مِنَ الصَّلاَةِ فِيهِ، فَإِنَّ صَلاَتَكُمْ مَعْرُوضَةٌ عَلَيَّ» فَقَالَوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللّهِ وَكَيْفَ تُعْرَضُ صَلاَتُنَا عَليْكَ وَقَدْ أَرَمْتَ؟ قَالَ: يَقُولُ: -بَلِيتَ- قَالَ: «إِنَّ اللّهَ تَعَالَى حَرَّمَ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ أَجْسَادَ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ» رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُودَ بِإِسْنَادٍ صَحِيحٍ.
Aws ibn Aws (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Among the most excellent of your days is Friday, so send blessings upon me abundantly on it, for your blessings are presented to me." They said: "O Messenger of Allah, how can our blessings be presented to you when you have decayed?" — meaning: when you have turned to dust. He said: "Indeed, Allah the Exalted has forbidden the earth to consume the bodies of the prophets." Reported by Abu Dawud with a sahih (authentic) chain.
الشرح · explanation
معروضة علي: أي يعرضها ملائكة موكلون بذلك. إنّ اللّه حرّم على الأرض أجساد الأنبياء: أي منعها من أن تُبلي أجسادهم.
"Presented to me": that is, angels appointed for this present them. "Indeed, Allah has forbidden the earth the bodies of the prophets": that is, He has prevented it from decaying their bodies.

A clarification of the merit of Friday and the merit of sending blessings upon him (peace and blessings be upon him) on it. The blessings sent upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reach him; and it will come in a later hadith that his soul is returned to him when the blessings and deeds are presented to him. The bodies of the prophets are protected and preserved, and do not decay after their death.
