عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللّهِ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «الْبَخِيلُ مَنْ ذُكِرْتُ عِنْدَهُ، فَلَمْ يُصَلِّ عَلَيَّ» رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيُّ وقَالَ: حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ.
Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The miser is the one in whose presence I am mentioned and yet he does not send blessings upon me." Reported by al-Tirmidhi, who said: a hasan sahih hadith.

أنّ النّبيّ صلّى اللّه عليه وسلّم يستحق الصلاة عليه كلما ذكر، لما له على الأمة من فضل، لأنّه كان سبب سعادتهم في دنياهم وآخرتهم. أنّ ترك الصلاة على النّبيّ صلّى اللّه عليه وسلّم عنوان الشحّ ودليل خبث النفس وسوء الطوية، لأنّه ترك لما يعود عليه بالنفع العظيم ولا يكلفه فعله جهدًا ولا ينقصه شيئًا، ولما فيه من ترك امتثال أمر اللّه سبحانه وتعالى.
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) deserves to have blessings sent upon him whenever he is mentioned, because of the favor he has upon the Ummah, for he was the cause of their happiness in this world and the Hereafter. Neglecting to send blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is the mark of miserliness and evidence of a corrupt soul and ill intent, for it is the abandonment of something that would bring one immense benefit while costing no effort and diminishing nothing, and because it involves failing to comply with the command of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He).
