عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللّهِ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «كَلِمتَانِ خَفِيفَتَانِ عَلَى اللِّسَانِ، ثَقيِلَتَانِ فِي الْمِيزَانِ، حَبِيبَتَانِ إِلَى الرَّحْمَنِ: سُبْحَانَ اللّهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ، سُبْحَانَ اللّهِ الْعَظِيمِ» مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Two phrases are light upon the tongue, heavy on the Scale, and beloved to the Most Merciful: 'Glory be to Allah and praise be to Him' (Subhan Allah wa bi-hamdih), 'Glory be to Allah, the Magnificent' (Subhan Allah al-Azim)." Agreed upon (al-Bukhari and Muslim).

كلمتان: المراد بالكلمة هنا المعنى اللغوي وهو الجملة المفيدة. خفيفتان: سهلتان على اللسان. ثقيلتان: يعني في وزْنِ الحسناتِ الَّتي يُحصِّلُها العبدُ عند التلفُّظِ بهما. حبيبتان إلى الرحمن: يحبهما اللّه تعالى. سبحان اللّه وبحمده: تسبيحُ اللّهِ تعالى هو تنزيهُه عَن كلِّ نقصٍ وعيبٍ.
"Two phrases": what is meant by "word" here is its linguistic sense, namely a complete, meaningful sentence. "Light": easy upon the tongue. "Heavy": meaning in the weight of the good deeds the servant earns upon uttering them. "Beloved to the Most Merciful": Allah the Exalted loves them. "Glory be to Allah and praise be to Him": glorifying Allah the Exalted is to declare Him free of every deficiency and fault.
