عَنْ مُعَاذٍ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللّهِ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَخَذَ بِيَدِهِ وَقَالَ: «يَا مُعَاذُ، وَاللّهِ إِنِّي لأُحِبُّكَ» فَقَالَ: «أُوصِيكَ يَا مُعَاذُ: لا تَدَعَنَّ فِي دُبُرِ كُلِّ صَلاةٍ تَقُولُ: اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَى ذِكْرِكَ وَشُكْرِكَ وَحُسْنِ عِبَادَتِكَ» رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُودَ بِإِسْنَادٍ صَحِيحٍ.
Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) took him by the hand and said: "O Mu'adh, by Allah, I love you." Then he said: "I advise you, O Mu'adh: never fail, at the end of every prayer, to say: O Allah, help me to remember You, to thank You, and to worship You well." Reported by Abu Dawud with a sound chain.
الشرح · explanation
لا تدَعَنَّ: لا تترُكنَّ دبر كل صلاة: عندَ الانتِهاءِ مِن كلِّ صَلاةٍ وقيل قُبَيل السَّلام من الصلاة.
"Never fail (la tada'anna)": never leave off. "At the end of every prayer": upon finishing every prayer; and it is said, just before the salam of the prayer.

استحباب هذا الذكر بعد كل صلاة. بيان فضل معاذ بن جبل رضي اللّه عنه، ومحبة النّبيّ صلّى اللّه عليه وسلّم له. ذكر اللّه تعالى يسوق المؤمن إلى شكره سبحانه، والشكر يسوقه إلى العبودية الصادقة.
It is recommended to say this remembrance after every prayer. An account of the merit of Mu'adh ibn Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) and the Prophet's love (peace and blessings be upon him) for him. Remembrance of Allah the Exalted leads the believer to thank Him, Glorified is He, and gratitude leads him to sincere servitude.
