Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The mufarridun have gone ahead." They said: "And who are the mufarridun, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "The men who remember Allah much and the women who remember Him." Reported by Muslim.
"The mufarridun": they are those who set themselves apart from their peers and distinguish their state from that of their brethren by attaining nearness [to Allah] and ascending to the highest ranks, for they were singled out in the remembrance of Allah apart from those who did not remember Allah.
