عَنْ عَبْدِ اللّهِ بْنِ بُسْرٍ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ: أنَّ رَجُلًا قَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللّهِ، إِنَّ شَرائِعَ الإِسْلامِ قَدْ كَثُرَتْ عَلَيَّ، فَأخْبِرْنِي بِشَيْءٍ أَتَشَبَّثُ بِهِ، قَالَ: «لا يَزَالُ لِسَانُكَ رَطْبًا مِنْ ذِكْرِ اللّهِ» رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيُّ وقَالَ: حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ.
Abdullah ibn Busr (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that a man said: "O Messenger of Allah, the ordinances of Islam have become many for me, so tell me of something I may hold fast to." He said: "Let your tongue remain moist with the remembrance of Allah." Reported by al-Tirmidhi, who said: a hasan (good) hadith.

شرائع الإسلام: أحكامه من الواجبات والمندوبات التي شرعها اللّه لعباده. أتشبث: أتعلق به وأعتصم، ليكون مغنيًا عن كثرة النوافل التي غلبتني وعجزت عنها. رطبًا: رطوبة اللسان عبارة عن سهولة جريانه، وهذا كناية عن المداومة على الذكر.
"The ordinances of Islam": its rulings, both the obligatory and the recommended, which Allah has legislated for His servants. "I may hold fast to": I may cling to and grasp, so that it may suffice me in place of the many supererogatory acts that have overwhelmed me and which I am unable to perform. "Moist": the moistness of the tongue expresses the ease with which it flows; this is a figurative expression for constancy in remembrance.

عجز الإنسان عن استقصاء الطاعات لكثرتها، فإذا أراد أن يعوض عن استقصائها ثوابًا، فليكن لسانه مع قلبه مشغولين بذكر اللّه تعالى وتسبيحه وهذا سهل يسير على الإنسان. سعة فضل اللّه تعالى فيعطي الثواب الجزيل عن العمل القليل.
Man's inability to perform all acts of obedience exhaustively on account of their multitude; so if he wishes to compensate, in reward, for not performing them exhaustively, let his tongue together with his heart be occupied with the remembrance of Allah the Exalted and His glorification, and this is easy and simple for a person. The vastness of Allah's grace, for He grants an abundant reward for a small deed.
