عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ: أَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيِقَ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللّهِ، مُرْنِي بِكَلِمَاتٍ أَقُولُهُنَّ إِذَا أَصْبَحْتُ وَإِذَا أَمْسَيْتُ، قَالَ: «قُلِ: اللَّهُمَّ، فَاطِرَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ، عَالِمَ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ، رَبَّ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَمَلِيكَهُ، أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لا إِلَـٰهَ إِلّا أنْتَ، أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ نَفْسِي وَشَرِّ الشَّيْطَانِ وَشِرْكِهِ» قَالَ: «قُلْهَا إِذَا أَصْبَحْتَ، وَإِذَا أَمْسَيْتَ، وَإِذَا أَخَذْتَ مَضْجَعَكَ» رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُودَ، وَالتِّرْمِذِيُّ وَقَالَ: حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ.

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "O Messenger of Allah, instruct me with words that I may say in the morning and in the evening." He said: "Say: O Allah, Creator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the seen, Lord of everything and its Sovereign, I bear witness that there is no god but You. I seek refuge in You from the evil of my own self and from the evil of Satan and his prompting to associate partners with You." He said: "Say it when you rise in the morning, when you reach the evening, and when you take to your bed." Reported by Abu Dawud and al-Tirmidhi, who said: a hasan sahih hadith.
