عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْها قَالَتْ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللّهِ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم يَسْتَحِبُّ الْجَوَامِعَ مِنَ الدُّعَاءِ، وَيَدَعُ مَا سِوَى ذَلِكَ. رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُودَ بإِسْنَادٍ جَيِّدٍ.
Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to prefer comprehensive supplications and would leave aside anything else. Reported by Abu Dawud with a good chain of transmission.

الجوامع من الدعاء: أي الأدعية قليلة الألفاظ الجامعة للمعاني الكثيرة. يدع: يترك.
"Comprehensive supplications": that is, supplications of few words that gather many meanings. "Would leave aside" (yada'u): would abandon.
