عَنْ طَارِقِ بْنِ أَشْيَمَ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: كَانَ الرَّجُلُ إِذَا أَسْلَمَ عَلَّمَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الصَّلاةَ، ثُمَّ أَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَدْعُوَ بِهَؤُلاءِ الْكَلِمَاتِ: «اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي، وَارْحَمْنِي، وَاهْدِنِي، وَعَافِنِي، وَارْزُقْنِي» رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ. وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ لَهُ عَنْ طَارِقٍ: أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَتاهُ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللّهِ كيْفَ أَقُولُ حِينَ أَسْأَلُ رَبِّي؟ قَالَ: «قُل: اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي، وَارْحَمْنِي، وَعَافِنِي، وَارْزُقْنِي، فَإِنَّ هَؤُلاءِ تَجْمَعُ لَكَ دُنْيَاكَ وَآخِرَتَكَ»
Tariq ibn Ashyam (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: When a man embraced Islam, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would teach him the prayer, then command him to supplicate with these words: "O Allah, forgive me, have mercy on me, guide me, grant me well-being, and provide for me." Reported by Muslim. In another of his narrations, from Tariq: he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) — and a man came to him and said: "O Messenger of Allah, how shall I say it when I ask my Lord?" He said: "Say: O Allah, forgive me, have mercy on me, grant me well-being, and provide for me; for these gather together for you your world and your Hereafter."
الشرح · explanation
تجمع لك دنياك وآخرتك: أي تجمع لك مطالبهما، فإن الرزق والعافية والرحمة تعم الدنيا والآخرة، والمغفرة تخص الآخرة.
"They gather together for you your world and your Hereafter": that is, they gather for you the objects of both; for provision, well-being, and mercy encompass both this world and the Hereafter, while forgiveness pertains particularly to the Hereafter.
