عَنِ ابْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللّهِ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ: «اللَّهُمَّ مُصَرِّفَ القُلُوبِ، صَرِّفْ قُلُوبَنَا عَلَى طَاعَتِكَ» رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ.
Ibn Amr ibn al-As (may Allah be pleased with them both) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Allah, Turner of hearts, turn our hearts toward Your obedience." Reported by Muslim.
الشرح · explanation
مصرّف القلوب: أي مغيرها من حال إلى حال ومن شأن إلى شأن. صرّف قلوبنا على طاعتك: أي فلا تزغها بعد الهدى.
"Turner of hearts": that is, the One who changes them from one state to another and from one condition to another. "Turn our hearts toward Your obedience": that is, do not let them deviate after guidance.
