عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللّهِ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّمَ: «قُلِ: اللَّهُمَّ اهْدِنِي وَسَدِّدْنِي» وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ: «اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْهُدَى، وَالسَّدَادَ» رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ.
Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "Say: O Allah, guide me and make me steadfast." In another narration: "O Allah, I ask You for guidance and steadfastness." Reported by Muslim.

سددني: وفقني. السداد: الاستقامة.
"Make me steadfast" (saddidni): grant me right direction and success. "Steadfastness" (al-sadad): uprightness.
