عَنْ أَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُ: أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَقُولُ: «اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوُذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْبَرَصِ، وَالْجُنُونِ، وَالْجُذَامِ، وَسَيِّءِ الْأَسْقَامِ» رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُودَ بِإِسْنَادٍ صَحِيحٍ.
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say: "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from leukoderma (baras), insanity, leprosy (judham), and evil diseases." Reported by Abu Dawud with a sahih (authentic) chain.

البرص: مرض يحدث بالجلد بياضًا. الجذام: علة تحدث من انتشار السوداء في البدن كله، فيفسد مزاج الأعضاء وهيئتها، وربما انتهى إلى تآكل الأعضاء وسقوطها عن تقرح. سيء الأسقام: أي شديد الأمراض كالشلل والعمى.
"Leukoderma (baras)": a disease that produces whiteness on the skin. "Leprosy (judham)": an affliction arising from the spread of black bile throughout the whole body, corrupting the constitution and form of the limbs, and sometimes leading to the erosion of the limbs and their falling off through ulceration. "Evil diseases": that is, severe illnesses such as paralysis and blindness.
