عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ: قَالَتْ هِنْدُ امْرأَةُ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: إِنَّ أَبَا سُفْيَانَ رَجُلٌ شَحِيحٌ، وَلَيْسَ يُعْطِينِي مَا يَكْفِينِي وَوَلَدِي إِلّا مَا أَخَذْتُ مِنْهُ، وَهُوَ لا يَعْلَمُ؟ قَالَ: «خُذِي مَا يَكْفِيكِ وَوَلَدَكِ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ» مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ.
Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: Hind, the wife of Abu Sufyan, said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Abu Sufyan is a stingy man, and he does not give me what suffices me and my children, except what I take from him without his knowledge." He said: "Take what suffices you and your children in a reasonable manner." Agreed upon (al-Bukhari and Muslim).
الشرح · explanation
هند: هي هند بنت عتبة بن ربيعة بن عبد شمس بن عبد مناف القرشية وهي أم معاوية، أسلمت عام الفتح بعد إسلام زوجها بليلة، وبايعت رسول اللّه صلّى اللّه عليه وسلّم. شحيح: بخيل حريص. بالمعروف: أي من غير سرف ولا تقتير.
"Hind": she is Hind bint Utbah ibn Rabiah ibn Abd Shams ibn Abd Manaf al-Qurashiyyah, the mother of Muawiyah. She embraced Islam in the year of the Conquest, a night after her husband's conversion, and gave the pledge of allegiance to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). "stingy": miserly and grasping. "in a reasonable manner": that is, without extravagance or niggardliness.

جواز غيبة أحد الزوجين الآخر عند الاستفتاء، لما يترتب عليه من أحكام شرعية. يجوز للمرأة أن تأخذ حقها من مال زوجها بغير إذنه إذا كان يمنعها من ذلك من غير حق.
It is permissible for one spouse to speak of the other when seeking a legal ruling, because of the legal rulings that depend upon it. A woman may take her rightful due from her husband's wealth without his permission if he unjustly withholds it from her.
