عنْ أبي هُريْرةَ رضي اللَّه عنهُ أنَّ رسُول اللَّه صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم قال: «لا ينْبغِي لِصِدِّيقٍ أنْ يكُونَ لَعَّانًا» رواه مسلم.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It does not befit a truthful one (siddiq) to be a frequent curser." Reported by Muslim.
الشرح · explanation
اللّعنة: هي الدُّعاءُ بالإِبعادِ مِن رَحمةِ اللّهِ. صِدِّيق: أي مُبالغ في الصِّدقِ، وهي صِفةٌ تاليةٌ للنُّبوَّةِ.
"the curse (al-lanah)": it is invoking upon someone a driving away from the mercy of Allah. "siddiq": that is, one who is abundant in truthfulness; it is a rank following that of prophethood.

أنّ كثرة اللّعن تتنافى مع كمال التصديق والإيمان. المُؤمن الصدّيق يَكونُ مِن أحرصِ النَّاسِ على أنْ يَتمسَّكَ النَّاسُ بِالإِسلامِ وبِتَقوى اللّهِ حتَّى يَقترِبوا مِن رَحمتِه، فصُدورُ اللَّعنةِ مِنه يُنافي ما هوَ عَليه.
Frequent cursing is incompatible with the perfection of affirming the truth and of faith. The truthful believer is among the most eager of people that others hold fast to Islam and to the fear of Allah so that they may draw near to His mercy; so for a curse to issue from him contradicts what he stands for.
