Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a donkey branded on the face and disapproved of that, saying: "By Allah, I will not brand except at the farthest part from the face." And he ordered his own donkey, and it was branded on its two haunches, and he was the first to brand the two haunches. Reported by Muslim.
