Abu Talha Zayd ibn Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: We were sitting in the courtyards conversing, when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came and stood over us and said: "What is it with you and sitting in the roadways?" We said: "We have only sat down for no harm; we sat to study together and to converse." He said: "If you must, then fulfill its due: lowering the gaze, returning the greeting, and speaking well." Reported by Muslim.
