عنْ أبي هُريْرةَ رضي اللّه عنهُ قال: لَعنَ رسُولُ اللّه صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم الرَّجُل يلْبسُ لِبْسةَ المرْأةِ، والمرْأةِ تَلْبِسُ لِبْسةَ الرَّجُلِ. رواه أبو داود بإسناد صحيح.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed the man who wears the dress of a woman, and the woman who wears the dress of a man." Reported by Abu Dawud with a sahih (authentic) chain.

لبسة المرأة ولبسة الرجل: أي اللباس الخاص بكل منهما.
"The dress of a woman and the dress of a man": that is, the attire particular to each of them.

يحرم على الرجل أن يلبس ما هو خاص بالنساء من اللباس، كما يحرم على المرأة أن تلبس من اللباس ما هو خاص بالرجال. محاكاة الرجل المرأة في لباسها، ومحاكاة المرأة الرجل في لباسه، انحراف عن سنن الفطرة وإهدار لكرامة الجنسين، جريًا وراء التقاليد، وعدم تحكيم الفطرة، فضلًا عن الخروج على هدي الإسلام وسنّة النبيّ صلّى اللّه عليه وسلّم.
It is forbidden for a man to wear attire particular to women, just as it is forbidden for a woman to wear attire particular to men. A man's imitation of a woman in her dress, and a woman's imitation of a man in his dress, is a deviation from the ways of natural disposition and a squandering of the dignity of both sexes, chasing after conventions and failing to defer to the fitrah, besides being a departure from the guidance of Islam and the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
