عنْ عبْدِ اللّه بنِ جعْفَر رضي اللّه عَنْهُما أنَّ النبيّ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم أمْهَل آلَ جعْفَرٍ رضي اللّه عنه ثَلاثًا، ثُمَّ أتَاهُمْ فَقَالَ: «لا تَبْكُوا على أخِي بَعْدَ الْيوم» ثُمَّ قَال: «ادْعُوا لي بَنِي أخِي» فجِيءَ بِنَا كَأَنَّنا أفْرُخٌ فَقَال: «ادْعُوا لي الحلاَّقَ» فَأَمرهُ، فَحَلَقَ رُؤُوسنَا. رواه أبو داود بإسنادٍ صحيح على شَرْطِ البخاري ومُسْلِمٍ.
Abdullah ibn Jaʿfar (may Allah be pleased with them both) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave the family of Jaʿfar (may Allah be pleased with him) three days' respite, then came to them and said: "Do not weep for my brother after today." Then he said: "Call for me the sons of my brother." So we were brought as though we were chicks, and he said: "Call for me the barber." He commanded him, and he shaved our heads. Reported by Abu Dawud with a sahih (authentic) chain meeting the conditions of al-Bukhari and Muslim.

النهي عن حلق شعر بعض الرأس دون بعض، والنهي هنا للكراهة الشديدة، وقيل للتحريم، والحكمة منه أنّه تشويه للخلقة مع ما فيه من التشبه بأهل الكتاب، لأنّه من عادة بعض أحبارهم ورهبانهم، وكذلك هو من عادة أهل الشر والفسوق، ويجوز ذلك للتداوي، أو لعذر يقتضي ذلك. جواز حلق شعر الرأس كله، وجواز تركه وتعهده بالنظافة بشرط عدم التشبه بالنساء.
The prohibition of shaving part of the head without the rest; the prohibition here is for strong dislike, and it is said to be for outright prohibition. Its wisdom is that it is a disfigurement of creation, along with the imitation of the People of the Book that it involves, since it was the custom of some of their rabbis and monks, and likewise the custom of people of evil and immorality; it is permitted for medical treatment or for an excuse that requires it. The permissibility of shaving all of the head hair, and the permissibility of leaving it and keeping it clean, on condition that one does not imitate women.
