عنْ عَمْرِو بنِ شُعَيْبٍ، عن أبيهِ، عنْ جَدِّهِ رضي اللّه عَنْهُ، عنِ النبيّ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم قَالَ: «لا تَنْتِفُوا الشَّيْبَ، فَإنَّهُ نُورُ المُسْلِمِ يوْمَ الْقِيامةِ» رواهُ أبو داودَ والتِّرْمِذِيُّ، والنسائِيُّ بأَسَانِيدَ حسنَةٍ، قَالَ الترمذي: هُو حديثٌ حَسَنٌ.
Amr ibn Shuʿayb, from his father, from his grandfather (may Allah be pleased with him), reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not pluck out gray hair, for it is the light of the Muslim on the Day of Resurrection." Reported by Abu Dawud, al-Tirmidhi, and al-Nasa'i with hasan (good) chains. Al-Tirmidhi said: it is a hasan (good) hadith.

"The light of the Muslim": his radiance, the beauty of his Islamic natural disposition (fitrah), and the brightness of his face.

النهي عن نتف الشيب من بين الشعر حيث كان، لأنّه علامة طول العمر والشيخوخة، ولأنّه النذير إلى الدار الآخرة، وورد أنّ اللّه تعالى يستحيي أن يعذب ذا الشيبة في الإسلام.
The prohibition of plucking gray hair from among the hair, wherever it may be, because it is a sign of long life and old age, and because it is the harbinger of the abode of the Hereafter; and it is reported that Allah the Exalted is shy to punish one who has grown gray in Islam.
