عنْ عائِشَةَ رضي اللّه عَنْهَا قَالَتْ: قَالَ رسُولُ اللّه صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم: «منْ عمِل عملًا لَيْس عليهِ أمْرُنَا فهُو رَدٌّ» رواه مسلم.
Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever does an act that is not in accordance with our matter, it is rejected." Reported by Muslim.
الشرح · explanation
ليس عليه أمرنا: أي لا يدل عليه دليل من ديننا، ولا يشهد له أصل من أصول شريعتنا. فهو رد: مردود وغير مقبول.
"Not in accordance with our matter": that is, no evidence from our religion indicates it, and no principle from the principles of our Shariah attests to it. "It is rejected" (radd): repudiated and not accepted.
