عنْ أبي هُريرةَ رضي اللّه عنْهُ قَال: سمِعتُ رسُول اللّه صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم يَقُولُ: «إذَا انْقَطَعَ شِسْعُ نَعْلِ أحدِكُمْ، فلا يمْشِ في الأخْرى حتَّى يُصْلِحَهَا» رواهُ مسلم.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "When the strap of one of your sandals breaks, let him not walk in the other until he repairs it." Reported by Muslim.
الشرح · explanation
الشسع: السير الذي يمسك النعل بالقدم، ويكون على ظهرها. يصلحها: أي ويلبس النعلين في القدمين.
The strap (al-shisʿ): the thong that holds the sandal to the foot, lying across the top of it. "Repairs it": that is, and then wears both sandals on both feet.
