عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رضي اللّه عنهَا قَالَتْ: قَدِمَ رَسُولُ اللّهِ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم مِنْ سَفَرٍ وَقَدْ سَتَرْتُ سَهْوَةً لي بِقِرَامٍ فيهِ تماثيلُ، فَلَمَّا رَآهُ رسُولُ اللّه صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم تَلوَّنَ وجْهُه وقَالَ:« يا عَائِشَةُ أشدُّ الناسِ عَذابًا عِنْدَ اللّه يَوْم الْقِيامةِ الَّذِينَ يُضَاهُون بخَلْقِ اللّه» قَالَتْ: فَقَطَعْنَاهُ، فَجَعَلنا مِنْهُ وِسادةً أوْ وِسادَتَيْن. متفقٌ عليه.
Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came back from a journey, and I had screened a niche of mine with a curtain on which there were figures. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw it, his face changed color and he said: "O Aisha, the people most severely punished by Allah on the Day of Resurrection are those who imitate the creation of Allah." She said: So we cut it up and made from it one or two cushions. Agreed upon (al-Bukhari and Muslim).

قِرَام: هُوَ السِّتْرُ. سهْوة: هِيَ النَّافِذة في الحَائِطِ. تلوَّن وجهه: تغير وهو علامة الغضب. يضاهون بخلق اللّه: يشابهون خلق اللّه تعالى بصنعهم صور خلقه. فقطعناه: أي بحيث زالت الصورة المحرمة، أو زال احترامها.
"Curtain": it is the screen. "Niche": it is the recess in the wall. "His face changed color": it altered, and that is a sign of anger. "Those who imitate the creation of Allah": those who liken the creation of Allah the Exalted by making images of His creation. "So we cut it up": that is, in such a way that the forbidden image was removed, or its veneration was removed.

النهي عن اتخاذ الصور، ويشتد النهي إذا كان على حالة فيها تعظيم، كأن تكون في إطار أو معلقة على ستائر وغيرها. يجب تنبيه الناس إلى حرمة تعليق الصور وتعظيمها، وخاصة، اتخاذها ووضعها على قبر صاحبها، فإن ذلك من البدع التي يجب إنكارها.
The prohibition of keeping images; the prohibition intensifies when it is in a state involving veneration, such as being in a frame or hung upon curtains and the like. People must be alerted to the prohibition of hanging images and venerating them, especially taking them and placing them upon the grave of their owner, for that is among the innovations that must be denounced.
