عَن ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رضي اللّه عنْهُمَا قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللّه صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم يَقُولُ: «مَنْ صَوَّرَ صُورة في الدُّنْيَا، كُلِّفَ أنْ يَنْفُخَ فيها الرُّوحَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَلَيْسَ بِنَافخٍ» متفقٌ عليه.
Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever makes an image in this world will be charged with breathing a soul into it on the Day of Resurrection, and he will not be able to breathe [into it]." Agreed upon (al-Bukhari and Muslim).
الشرح · explanation
كلف: أي تعجيزًا له. وليس بنافخ: أي لا يستطيع ذلك فيعذب على عدم الإتيان بالمأمور به.
"Charged": that is, in order to expose his inability. "And he will not be able to breathe": that is, he cannot do so, and thus he is punished for failing to produce what he was commanded to do.
