عَنْ أبي هُرَيْرَة رضي اللّه عَنْهُ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللّه صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم يَقُولُ: «قَالَ اللّه تَعَالى: ومَنْ أظْلَمُ مِمَّنْ ذهَب يَخْلُقُ كَخَلْقِي، فَلْيَخْلُقُوا ذَرَّةً أوْ لِيَخْلُقُوا حَبَّةً، أوْ لِيَخْلُقُوا شَعِيرَةً» متفقٌ عليه.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Allah the Exalted said: 'And who is more unjust than one who sets out to create like My creation? Let them create an atom, or let them create a grain, or let them create a barley-corn.'" Agreed upon (al-Bukhari and Muslim).

يخلق كخلقي: يصنع ما يشابه خلقي. ذرة: نملة حمراء صغيرة، أو الجزء الذي لا يتجزأ.
"To create like My creation": to make what resembles My creation. "An atom": a small red ant, or the indivisible particle.

شدّة قبح عمل المصورين لأنّه اجتراء على مشابهة خلق اللّه تعالى مع ثبوت العجز لديهم عن ذلك. إثبات عجز البشريّة عن إيجاد شيء يضاهي خلق اللّه عزّ وجلّ من حيوان أو غيره مهما قل شأنه وصغر، وفي ذلك معجزة للنّبيّ صلّى اللّه عليه وسلّم إذ لم يجرؤ على ذلك أحد رغم ما توصلت إليه المعارف والعلوم.
The extreme repugnance of the work of image-makers, because it is a presumptuous attempt to imitate the creation of Allah the Exalted, together with their established incapacity to do so. Establishing the inability of humanity to bring into being anything that rivals the creation of Allah (the Mighty and Majestic), whether animal or otherwise, however slight and small it may be; and in that is a miracle for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), since no one has dared to do so despite all the knowledge and sciences that have been attained.
