Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade riding upon the jallalah among camels. Reported by Abu Dawud with a sahih (authentic) chain.
"The jallalah": it is the one that eats impurity and dung; and the reason for the prohibition of riding it is that it sweats and thus pollutes what is upon it with its sweat, and likewise the smell of its broth, its meat, or its taste is altered.
The dislike of riding the jallalah until the impurity leaves it, that being by confining it and having it eat pure fodder until it is certain that the impurity has departed from it. Al-Nawawi (may Allah the Exalted have mercy on him) mentioned that the dislike is understood to apply when it habitually eats impurities such as excrement and the like, until their smell appears upon it. The jallalah is the same whether it be camels, cattle, sheep, or others, such as chickens and geese. The keenness of Islam upon purity and cleanliness, and its discouragement from filth and whatever the souls find repugnant of impurities and the like.
