Riyad Al Salihin

Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: When the wind blew violently, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would say: "O Allah, I ask You for its good, and the good of what is in it, and the good of what it has been sent with; and I seek refuge in You from its evil, and the evil of what is in it, and the evil of what it has been sent with." Reported by Muslim.

The dislike of reviling the winds and other phenomena of the universe, because they are all subjected by the command of Allah the Exalted to that for which they were created. The phenomena of the universe are signs among the signs of Allah (the Mighty and Majestic) and manifestations of His power; in them is good and mercy for whom Allah the Exalted wills His mercy, and in them is woe and ruin for whom Allah the Exalted wills His punishment. Turning to Allah the Exalted and imploring Him upon witnessing what is distressing and frightening among the phenomena of the universe. The winds contain much good, such as the wholesomeness of provision and body, and they contain widespread evil, such as the destruction of crops and offspring; so it is fitting for the Muslim to ask Allah the Exalted to let him enjoy their good and to protect him from their evil. The recommendation of supplicating with what has been transmitted upon the blowing of the wind. It is not part of the character of the Muslim to revile and abuse, even if it be toward other than a human being.
