عنْ زيْدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ الجُهَنيِّ رَضيَ اللّه عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللّه صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم: «لا تَسُبوا الدِّيكَ، فَإِنَّهُ يُوقِظُ للصلاةِ» رواه أبو داود بإِسنادٍ صحيح.
Zayd ibn Khalid al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not revile the rooster, for it awakens [people] for prayer." Reported by Abu Dawud with a sahih (authentic) chain.

كراهة التضجر من صياح الديك وسماع صوته، وكراهة سبّه لأنّه يوقظ النائمين وينبههم فيبادرون إلى الصلاة والتهجد. من شأن المسلم أن يرغب بكل ما يعينه على طاعة اللّه تعالى وينبهه إلى ذلك.
The dislike of being annoyed by the crowing of the rooster and the hearing of its sound, and the dislike of reviling it, because it awakens the sleeping and alerts them, so that they hasten to prayer and to night vigil (tahajjud). It is the way of the Muslim to desire everything that helps him to obey Allah the Exalted and alerts him to that.
