عَنْ أنَسٍ رضي اللّه عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَال رَسُولُ اللّه صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم: «لَيْسَ مِنْ بَلَدٍ إلّا سَيَطَؤُهُ الدَّجَّالُ إلّا مَكَّةَ والمَدينة، ولَيْسَ نَقْبٌ مِنْ أنْقَابِهما إلا عَلَيْهِ المَلائِكَةُ صَافِّينَ تحْرُسُهُما، فَيَنْزِلُ بالسَّبَخَةِ، فَتَرْجُفُ المدينةُ ثلاثَ رَجَفَاتٍ، يُخْرِجُ اللّه مِنْهَا كُلَّ كَافِرٍ وَمُنَافِقٍ» رواه مسلم.
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no land but that the Dajjal will trample it, except Mecca and Medina. There is not a mountain-pass of their passes but that the angels are lined up in ranks guarding them. He will descend at the salt-marsh, and Medina will quake three times, by which Allah will expel from it every disbeliever and hypocrite." Reported by Muslim.

نقب: خرق وممر. السبخة: الأرض الرملية التي لا تنبت لملوحتها.
"Naqb": an opening and a passage (mountain-pass). "Al-sabakhah": sandy ground that grows nothing due to its saltiness.

بيَّن النبيّ صلّى اللّه عليه وسلّم أنّ الدجّال يدخل كل بلد يدعو الناس والعياذ باللّه لعبادته إلّا مكة والمدينة فإنّه لا يدخلهما لأنّ عليهما الملائكة على كل باب منهما يذودون عنهما.
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) explained that the Dajjal will enter every land, calling people—Allah's refuge is sought—to worship him, except Mecca and Medina, which he will not enter, because the angels stand at every gate of them, driving him away.
