عَنْ أبي مُوسى الأشْعَرِيِّ رضي اللّه عنْهُ أنَّ النَّبيَّ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم قال: «ليأتيَنَّ عَلى النَّاسِ زَمَانٌ يَطُوفُ الرَّجُلُ فِيهِ بِالصَّدَقَة مِنَ الذَّهَبِ، فَلا يَجِدُ أحَدًا يَأْخُذُهَا مِنْهُ، وَيُرَى الرَّجُلُ الوَاحِدُ يَتْبَعُهُ أرْبَعُونَ امْرأةً يَلُذْنَ بِهِ مِنْ قِلَّةِ الرِّجالِ وَكَثْرَةِ النِّسَاءِ» رواه مسلم.
Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A time will surely come upon people in which a man will go about with charity of gold and will not find anyone to accept it from him; and a single man will be seen followed by forty women seeking refuge in him, because of the scarcity of men and the abundance of women." Reported by Muslim.
الشرح · explanation
يلذن به: يعتصمن به، ويَلتجِئْنَ إليه ويَتبَعْنَه مِن زَوجاتٍ وخدَمٍ وقريباتٍ، أو يَعرِضْنَ عليه الزَّواجَ منهنَّ.
"Seeking refuge in him": they take shelter in him, resort to him, and follow him — whether as wives, servants, or female relatives — or they offer themselves to him in marriage.

هذا الحديث علم من إعلام نبوته صلّى اللّه عليه وسلّم، وأنّه لا بد أن يكثر المال بين أيدي الناس حتى لا يرى من يقبل الصدقة. قلة الرجال وكثرة النساء، إما لكثرة الحروب المبيدة للرجال، وإما لكثرة ولادة الإناث.
This hadith is one of the signs of his prophethood (peace and blessings be upon him): wealth must inevitably become so abundant in people's hands that no one can be found to accept charity. The scarcity of men and the abundance of women, either because of the many wars that annihilate men, or because of the abundance of female births.
