عَنْ أبي هُريْرةَ رضي اللّه عنْهُ، عَنِ النَّبيِّ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم قَالَ: «أَحَبُّ الْبِلادِ إلى اللّه مَساجِدُهَا، وأبَغضُ الْبِلادِ إلى اللّه أسواقُهَا» روَاهُ مُسلم.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: "The most beloved of places to Allah are its mosques, and the most hateful of places to Allah are its markets." Reported by Muslim.

الحثّ على الجلوس في المساجد لأنّها بيوت يذكر فيها اسم اللّه كثيرًا وتؤدى فيها الصلاة ويقرأ فيها القرآن. الحثّ على اجتناب الأسواق لأنّها مكان الغفلة عن اللّه والخداع والغش والأَيْمان الكاذبة وهي قلما تخلو من ذلك. ليست كراهية الأسواق لذات المكان بل للتحذير من حصول المكروهات والمحرمات فيها على الغالب، لأنّه قد يدخل السوق لطلب الرزق الحلال.
Encouragement to sit in the mosques, for they are houses in which the name of Allah is remembered abundantly, in which prayer is performed, and in which the Qur'an is recited. Encouragement to avoid the markets, for they are a place of heedlessness of Allah, of deception, fraud, and false oaths, and they are rarely free of that. The disliking of the markets is not for the place itself, but as a warning against the occurrence of disliked and forbidden acts that usually take place there, for one may enter the market seeking lawful sustenance.
