عن الأَغَرِّ المُزَنيِّ رضِي اللّه عنْهُ أَنَّ رسُول اللّهِ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم قَالَ: «إِنَّهُ لَيُغَانُ على قَلْبي، وَإِني لأَسْتغْفِرُ اللّه في الْيوْمِ مِئَةَ مرَّةٍ» رواهُ مُسلِم.
Al-Aghar al-Muzani (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, my heart becomes clouded over, and indeed I seek Allah's forgiveness a hundred times a day." Reported by Muslim.

ليغان: أراد ما يغشاه من السهو الذي لا يخلو منه من أمور الأمة والملة و مصالحهما عدّ ذلك ذنبًا وتقصيرًا فيفزع إلى الاستغفار .
"It becomes clouded over (layughan)": he meant the momentary heedlessness that overcomes him, which is unavoidable given the affairs of the community and the religion and their interests. He counted this a sin and a shortcoming, so he would resort to seeking forgiveness.

كثرة استغفار النبيّ صلّى اللّه عليه وسلّم تعليمًا لأمته، وإلّا فالنبيّ صلّى اللّه عليه وسلّم معصوم وقد غفر اللّه له ما تقدم من ذنبه وما تأخر. التأكيد على بشرية الرسول صلّى اللّه عليه وسلّم وأنّه كان ينتابه فتور عن الذكر الذي يداوم عليه.
The frequency of the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) seeking forgiveness, as a teaching for his community; otherwise the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is protected (ma'sum), and Allah had forgiven him his former and latter sins. An affirmation of the human nature of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), and that he would be overtaken by a lapse from the remembrance he constantly maintained.
