عَنِ ابْنِ عُمر رضِي اللّه عَنْهُما قَال: كُنَّا نَعُدُّ لِرَسُول اللّهِ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم في المجلِس الْواحِدِ مائَةَ مرَّةٍ: «ربِّ اغْفِرْ لي، وتُبْ عليَ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ التَّوابُ الرَّحِيمُ» رواه أبو داود، والترمذي، وقال: حديث صحيح.
Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: We would count for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), in a single sitting, a hundred times: "My Lord, forgive me and turn to me in mercy; indeed You are the Ever-Relenting, the Most Merciful." Reported by Abu Dawud and al-Tirmidhi, who said: a sahih (authentic) hadith.

زيادة خضوع النبيّ صَلّى اللّهُ عليه وسلّم، أنّ من أدب الدعاء أن يختم الداعي دعاءه بما يناسبه من أسماء اللّه تعالى فإذا سأل المغفرة والرحمة قال: إنّك انت التواب الرحيم. وإذا سأل جزاء دنيويًا أو أخرويًا قال: إنّك أنت الجواد الكريم.
The abundant humility of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) before his Lord. That part of the etiquette of supplication is for the one supplicating to close his supplication with those names of Allah the Exalted that suit it: so when he asks for forgiveness and mercy, he says, "Indeed You are the Ever-Relenting, the Most Merciful"; and when he asks for a worldly or an otherworldly reward, he says, "Indeed You are the Most Generous, the Most Bountiful."
