عنِ ابْنِ مسْعُودٍ رضِي اللّه عنْهُ قال: قَال رسُولُ اللّهِ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم: « إِنِّي لأَعْلَمُ آخِرَ أَهْل النَّار خُرُوجًا مِنهَا، وَآخِرَ أَهْل الْجنَّةِ دُخُولًا الْجنَّة، رجُلٌ يخْرُجُ مِنَ النَّارِ حبْوًا، فَيقُولُ اللّه عزَّ وجَلَّ لَهُ: اذْهَبْ فَادخُلِ الْجنَّةَ، فَيأْتِيهَا، فيُخيَّلُ إِلَيْهِ أَنَّهَا مَلأَى، فيَرْجِعُ فَيقُولُ: يا ربِّ وجدْتُهَا مَلأى، يَقُولُ اللّه عزَّ وجلَّ لهُ: اذْهَبْ فَادْخُلِ الجنَّةَ، فيأْتِيها، فَيُخَيَّل إِلَيْهِ أَنَّهَا ملأى، فَيرْجِعُ، فيَقُولُ: يا ربِّ وجدْتُهَا مَلأى، فَيقُولُ اللّه عزَّ وجلَّ لهُ: اذْهَبْ فَادْخُلِ الْجَنَّةَ، فإِنَّ لَكَ مِثْلَ الدُّنْيا وعشرةَ أَمْثَالِها، أَوْ إِنَّ لَكَ مِثْل عَشرَةِ أَمْثَالِ الدُّنْيا، فَيقُولُ: أَتَسْخَرُ بِي، أَوَ أَتَضحكُ بِي وأَنْتَ الملِكُ» قَال: فَلَقَدْ رأَيْتُ رَسُول اللّهِ صَلّى اللّهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم ضَحِكَ حَتَّى بدت نَوَاجذُهُ فَكَانَ يقُولُ: «ذَلِكَ أَدْنَى أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ منْزِلَةً» متفقٌ عليه.
Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, I know the last of the people of the Fire to come out of it, and the last of the people of Paradise to enter Paradise: a man who comes out of the Fire crawling. Allah (the Mighty and Majestic) says to him: Go and enter Paradise. So he comes to it, and it seems to him that it is full. He returns and says: O my Lord, I found it full. Allah (the Mighty and Majestic) says to him: Go and enter Paradise. So he comes to it, and it seems to him that it is full. He returns and says: O my Lord, I found it full. Allah (the Mighty and Majestic) says to him: Go and enter Paradise, for you shall have the like of this world and ten times over the like of it — or: you shall have ten times the like of this world. He says: Are You mocking me — or: are You laughing at me — while You are the Sovereign?" [Ibn Mas'ud] said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) laugh until his molars became visible. And he used to say: "That is the lowest of the people of Paradise in rank." حبوًا: زحفًا. نواجذه: أنيابه أو آخر الأضراس، والمراد أن النبي صلّى اللّه عليه وسلّم ضحك غاية الضحك، ومن المعلوم أنّ غالب ضحكه التبسم بحيث لا يبدو منه إلّا المبسم، وإذا اقتضى المقام ضحك حتى تبدو النواجذ.
"Crawling": creeping [on hands and knees]. "His molars": his canine teeth or the rearmost molars; what is meant is that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) laughed to the utmost degree of laughter. It is well known that most of his laughter was a smile such that nothing of it appeared but the front of the mouth, but when the occasion called for it, he would laugh until the molars became visible.
